Individual or Collective Right – A brief history of the 2nd Amendment

            Today we are struggling with people who believe the right to keep and bear arms is somehow a collective right, tied to militia membership, and not an individual natural right.  This false assumption is based on today’s understanding and rhetoric.  We also have the ambiguous 1939 Supreme Court case, U.S. vs. Miller that significantly fails to embrace the founding generation’s intent.  The other area we have is the 2nd Amendment’s preamble that some point to as a reason to support the collective, militia tied concept.  Yet history and understanding of bearing arms teaches us what is really the intent – the right to keep and bear arms is an individual natural right!

Intervention is a really sound policy

Just ask any of those who are opposed to the notion the United States should move our foreign policy from one of intervention toward one of non-intervention and you will hear the many reasons why our approach works so well.  We have stayed on an interventionist path since the end of World War II and made a real case for intervention even before that, back when President Woodrow Wilson was selling U.S. Citizens on the notion we are a democracy and we should be sharing it around the world.

Illegal Alien is not a race

In a world where words are critically important those who are supporting both amnesty and complete open borders misdirect and misinform. This misdirection and misinformation is the key to rallying many Hispanics against Arizona and ICE. Without any real ability to point out where the laws are targeted against a specific race groups like La Raza and the Brown Beret continue to insist the laws are race related and the race targeted is Hispanic.
